Rekel Kerr is a senior healthcare leader with more than two decades of experience spanning the NHS, the private healthcare sector, and the UK Ministry of Defence. His most recent role was as Head of Physiotherapy and Orthotics at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, where he provided strategic clinical and operational leadership across specialist services.

Throughout his career, Rekel has led complex programmes focused on healthcare transformation, reducing health inequalities, and improving quality, safety, and patient outcomes. He played a key leadership role in an HSJ Award-winning, multi-trust paediatric post-COVID recovery programme, developing and implementing a health inequalities strategy that informed service delivery across eleven NHS trusts.

A recognised advocate for health equity, Rekel regularly contributes to national leadership conversations on health equity, organisational culture, and inclusive healthcare systems. He has delivered keynote presentations for organisations including the NHS Leadership Academy and the College of Radiographers. In 2025, he was invited by the UK Prime Minister to attend the Windrush celebrations in recognition of his contribution to advancing equity in healthcare.

Alongside his executive leadership, Rekel has extensive experience in governance and safeguarding. As a former Governor of Waverley Academy, he provided strategic oversight for safeguarding, organisational performance, and the welfare of children and young people, strengthening governance during one of the most challenging periods for education and public services.

Committed to developing high-performing, inclusive organisations, Rekel has completed leadership programmes with both the NHS Leadership Academy and The King’s Fund, further strengthening his expertise in strategic leadership, organisational development, and system-wide transformation.

As a Trustee, Rekel brings a combination of executive healthcare leadership, governance expertise, and a longstanding commitment to improving outcomes for underserved communities. His experience across clinical practice, organisational leadership, and public service enables him to support organisations seeking sustainable impact, innovation, and equitable access to high-quality care.
