About Scar Therapy Network
Discover our mission, our work, and the values that shape everything we do.
Mission
Our mission is to raise awareness, understanding, and standards of care in scar therapy by providing accessible education, trusted resources, and a supportive professional network. We aim to empower both individuals living with scars and the practitioners who support them by promoting best practice, collaboration, and evidence-informed approaches to scar management.
Vision
The Scar Therapy Network vision is to improve scar care and recovery outcomes worldwide by providing a free, accessible patient portal for evidence-based scar care. By building a trusted professional community for those who treat scarring, we aim to share and advance evidence-based practice, raise the standards and equity of scar therapy intervention globally, and collaboratively develop clinical frameworks that support safe, effective, and profession-specific scar care.
Ethical Framework
Scar Therapy Network is committed to advancing equitable access to evidence-based scar care. Our patient platform is provided free of charge to ensure that reliable, clinically informed information is accessible to all individuals, regardless of geography, socioeconomic status, or healthcare pathway.
The platform exists in recognition that many patients experience limited or inconsistent access to specialist scar education and post-procedural support. By removing financial barriers, the Scar Therapy Network aims to reduce health inequalities, support informed self-management, and enhance recovery outcomes following accident, surgery or injury.
All patient-facing content is developed and reviewed by qualified healthcare professionals and is informed by current evidence, clinical guidelines, and best practice. The platform does not promote singular products or services which do not align with our values and mission. The Scar Therapy Network does not replace individual clinical assessment or treatment.
Scar Therapy Network operates under clear governance principles, including transparency, professional accountability, and ethical practice. Educational content is distinct from commercial training activities for professionals, and no patient data is sold or used for marketing purposes (other than to build awareness of the Scar Therapy Network).
Through this approach, Scar Therapy Network aligns with public health values, academic integrity, and the ethical responsibility to share evidence-based knowledge for the benefit of patients, clinicians, and the wider healthcare community.
Frameworks developed for scar therapy professionals will be collaboratively discussed, researched, evaluated, and formulated within the Scar Therapy Network. These frameworks will strengthen the Network’s vision by ensuring that scar therapy interventions are clinical, evidence-based and appropriately tailored to the scope and professional responsibilities of each discipline.
